1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy sets out the commitment of DataXing Digital India Pvt. Ltd. and its affiliates (collectively, “DataXing”) to the privacy of its panel members (“Panellists”, “Panellist”) and governs Panellists’ rights regarding privacy and data protection.

This Privacy Policy applies to the DataXing Digital panel known as NipponPolls, altogether identified in this Privacy Policy as the DataXing Digital Panels (the “Panels”). For clarity, this policy is publicly available on the NipponPolls panel site as “NipponPolls Panel Privacy Policy”.

Panellists are members of the Panels, operated by DataXing Digital, for which DataXing Digital acts as a business operator handling personal information under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan (“APPI”).

Participation in our panels, surveys, and research activities is entirely voluntary. By registering to the Panels and accepting these terms, you confirm that you have read and understood the terms of this Privacy Policy. We ask you to read this Privacy Policy carefully.

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, personal information means information relating to a living individual which can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, or other description, as defined under the APPI.

2. Collection and Use of Personal Information

We collect your personal information in several ways such as through our website(s) (for example your panel portal), our mobile applications, and other activities such as social media, apps, online, face-to-face or telephone studies or other research activities. We may add other ways and activities moving forward but will always operate in compliance with this Privacy Policy.

We will specify the purpose of use of personal information as clearly as possible and will not use personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve those purposes, except where permitted by law.

We process personal information based on:

  • where you have provided consent;
  • where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you;
  • where processing is required to comply with a legal obligation;
  • where processing is necessary to protect vital interests;
  • where processing is necessary for legitimate business purposes related to research activities;
  • where processing is carried out for research purposes, subject to appropriate safeguards under APPI.

  • request cessation of third-party sharing;

You may also lodge a complaint with the Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC) of Japan.

Data Storage and Retention

Personal information shall be retained only for such period as is appropriate for its intended and lawful use. DataXing Digital shall retain personal information for as long as you remain a Panel member. Upon withdrawal, data will be retained only as required by law and securely deleted thereafter.

Updates to Our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is reviewed regularly and may be amended from time to time. The most current version will always be available on the NipponPolls panel site. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of updates.
